GANESH CHATURTHI
Ganesh Chaturthi is a ten-day Hindu festival celebrated to honour the elephant-headed God Ganesha’ birthday.

. He is the younger son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
Ganesha is known by 108 different names and is the Lord of arts and sciences and the deva of wisdom. He is honoured at the start of rituals and ceremonies as he's considered the God of beginnings. He's widely and dearly referred to as Ganapati or Vinayaka.

He is VIGHNHARTA SUKHKARTA

There are four main rituals during the festival –
Pranapratishhtha - the process of infusing the deity into a murti or idol,
Shhodashopachara - 16 forms of paying tribute to Ganesha,
Uttarpuja - Puja after which the idol could be shifted after it's infusion,
Ganpati Visarjan - immersion of the Idol in the river.

Shri Lok manaya tilak changed this festival from a private festival to grand festival, they started it at the time of British rule, so that they can gather and can discuss about new strategy of  fighting against Britishers.
Mainly it was a festival of MAHARSHTRIANS, but now almost everyone celebrate GANESH UTSAV
Either in their colonies or societies or at their house.
This festival is celebrated with full joy and energy, people believe that in these 10 days, GANPATI BAPPA will solve their problems and will spread love and happiness all around.

Ganpati Bappa is treated like a guest and given a new sweet everyday like different types of modaks because he loves modak as per the old ritual books, and the family took care of them for 1 day, and then let them go to their own house after 10 days.
After 10 days people see off them with full love and hope to see them again the next year people dance and sing while the see off them.
A bollywood  popular song says it all.

“Tujhko phir se jalwa dikhana hi hoga
Agle bars ana hai aana hi hoga
Dekhengi teri raahen,
pyasi pyasi nigahen”.
