For all you theatre enthusiasts and Bollywood freaks,Ibtida is the acclaimed dramatics society of one of the most popular DU colleges,
Hindu College. Over the years, the society has consistently raised standards and expectations in theatre work and has emerged as one of the most sought-after societies of Delhi University. Ibtida was established in 1991 by the joint efforts of faculty members, Dr. Harish Naval (Department of Hindi) and Ms. Suchitra Gupta (Department of History) and film director Imtiaz Ali, who has delivered major hits like ‘Jab We Met’ and ‘Highway’, was one of the co-founders of the society,

. The society nurtures various forms of theatre ranging from the regular and classical stage performances to the more spontaneous and thoughtfully improvised street plays.
Over the years, Ibtida has gradually incorporated electronic multimedia into the performances and at the same time it also stands as one of the only college in Delhi university that still retains the old world art of mime theatre.
. Ibtida equally owes its legacy to the unrelenting hard work and dedication of its members.
At the beginning of the annual calendar, subsequent to new admissions,
Ibtida holds auditions for students who wish to be part of the society.Ibtida on an average has more than a dozen stagings of street theatre every year on various social concerns ranging from gender discrimination to corruption.
One of the successful and beloved director , Imtiaz Ali, had been the enthusiastic dramatist of this marvellous society. It's swaggy tagline is
" Drama, a dollop of delight, a miniature of life,
Have a bite".
Most of you have an inborn talented actor in disguise. But when you enroll in this, your latent talent comes out so smoothly and efficiently. Students who are like totally crazy for drama or for becoming ' drama kings or queens', this society is the best to nurture you up . It provide an additional platform by giving you adequate exposure.
In August 2015, they were invited by the Rajasthan Government to create awareness about youth training and skill building Programmes. It has incorporated with eletronic multimedia , thereby, extending its platform and is one of the only societies in du that still retains the old world art of mini theatre.
It has done dozens of stage street theatres raising critical issues of our country. Not only hindu college students, but outsiders are always eager to watch their ' get goosebumps' plays and constitute a large part of their gig
The theatre group also participates in motivating target groups with regard to specific social initiatives.. Medina the annual festival of the society is organized on social issue
